I never liked falling sick. Maybe when I was 9 years old and being sick meant staying at home. Then again, it also meant I had to miss a whole day (or week) of class and falling behind.
Maybe it was also because my parents would put me on this guilt trip when I was sick, as though I was lying.
Then one day they realised I was never lying, I just never looked pale when I kept having to see the doctor, and having the typical gastritist, asthmas, and amazingly, after nearly 20 years of my life, I have migraines. They’re not the usual sort of headaches. I actually lose sight in one eye, not completely, but I see this blotch of blurry as though you have eye shit floating around, but it’s not.
Being a person highly reliant on all sorts of medication, on days when I don’t feel like I’m one foot in the grave, I try to make the most of it, because there are days I really am not sure when I’ll have an asthma attack because I coughed too much or even laughed too much.
